Closure of Main Street Melbourne between Campey Lane and the Sports Field

Main Street is currently closed because of a collapsed sewer. Yorkshire Water has said the work will take about about a month. It is likely therefore that the road will not be reopened until the middle of November 2020.

Closure of Hagg Bridge - update 22 October2020

The work to Hagg Bridge started at the end of April 2020. Information about the work/diversions/buses can be found below.

The works were supposed to last around 6 months. However, problems have now arisen which means the deadline will not be met and at present ERYC cannot say how much longer the bridge will be closed. What ERYC has said is that it is unlikely there will be a quick fix to the problem. Updates will be published when anything is known.

During the closure the bridge will be closed to vehicles . The map below provides details of diversion routes. Please note Church Lane will also be closed to vehicles during the duration of the works to the Bridge.

Local cycling and triathlon events

The Parish Council is aware that there are a number of cycling and triathlon events that pass through the village, particularly in the summer months. The majority of these are run by Freebird Events and start/finish at Allerthorpe Lakeland Park. In order to allow parishioners to have advance warning of these events, the link to Allerthorpe Lakeland Park's website can be found here - Allerthorpe Lakeland Park Events.
