Closure of Common Lane (Sumo Road) from 15 February 2021 for approx. 6 weeks
Please see an extract from a letter sent to the Parish Council from Highways Engineering at East Riding of Yorkshire Council. This relates to the closure of the Sumo Road to carry out improvement works. East Riding states:
"The work will involve strengthening the sides of the existing carriageway and overlaying the road from the Yorkshire Water access road (just after Sumo Engineering works to Rytham Gate junction, Seaton Ross).
Due to the narrow width of the existing carriageway and to ensure the travelling public and the workforce are kept safe, we will need to close the road to all through traffic with a signed diversion route that will take traffic through Melbourne Village. May I apologise for the possible additional disruption that this diversion may cause whilst the work to Hagg Bridge is still underway, we realise that it’s not ideal diverting additional HGV’s and light traffic along Main Street, Melbourne but this is the only option given the location of the local businesses in the area that the HGV’s are accessing.
Once the works are completed the proposed 7.5t weight limit will be installed in Melbourne Village with HGV’s directed to use Common Road and away from Melbourne Village".
Further details of the closure can be found below:
Common Lane (Sumo Road) will be closed from 15 February. Please see the notice and map.
